During his opening speech at the conference 'Future of Automobility and Traffic', Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Ian Borg, spoke about on-going infrastructural works as well as others in the pipeline for the near future. Borg also spoke about other initiatives and plans with the aim of encouraging more citizens to use alternative and greener modes of transport, towards less congestion and pollution.

Ulrich Bez, Angelo Xuereb, Reinhold Karner, Julie Meyer and Tonio Darmanin also participated in this conference. This seminar was organised with the aim of discussing the effects of automobility and traffic on the economy in the years to come, and how a small island economy such as that of Malta should prepare for these advances
