Dr Jessica Pavia was recently presented with the twelfth edition of the BOV Prize in Medicine - an award instituted by Bank of Valletta and the Department of Medicine at the University of Malta.
The BOV Prize in Medicine is presented to the student who obtains the highest mark in the final qualifying examination in medicine. This mark is derived from a written paper, a clinical hands-on exam and an exam in essential core competences which assesses the students on various skills such as communication, data analysis and handling an emergency scenario.
Charles Azzopardi, Executive PR & Marketing at Bank of Valletta presented the BOV Prize in Medicine to Dr Pavia in the presence of Prof Stephen Montefort, Head of the Department of Medicine and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta.
Congratulating Dr Pavia for her achievement, Mr Azzopardi said "This is the twelfth year that Bank of Valletta is presenting the BOV Prize in Medicine to the top performing medical student. This prize serves to further motivate all the participants to aim higher in their achievements and to raise the level of the field of Medicine in our country".
"An award like the BOV Prize in Medicine motivates the student community to a higher level of commitment and achievement," corroborated Prof Montefort. "Through this award, it is easier for the teaching body to continue encouraging medical students to strive for excellence in their studies".
