Heritage Malta returns with a repeat of the Birgu tour

Tuesday, 3 October 2017, 10:38 Last update: about 8 years ago

Did you know that Malta once hosted Greek refugees? Learn more about what it meant for the Knights to come to Malta. Follow in their footsteps during FAA's visit to Birgu.

Birgu was forever transformed by the arrival of the Knights of St John in 1530. The religious community already in existence there, the Dominican Order, found itself rubbing shoulders with Greek refugees, building their own churches.

This led to an enriched religious heritage in Vittoriosa. Walk the trail of the Knights of St John in Birgu and see what they would have seen - a convergence of religious lives, architectural styles and traditions, stretching up until the present, despite the ravages of time.

Join Vincent Zammit and FAA for another fascinating walk of discovery along the streets of Birgu on Friday, 20 October at 7pm, near Birgu's main entrance.
