Discussions on structural reforms at both the Malta Council for economic and Social Development (MCESD), and the Malta in the European Union Steering and Action Committee (MEUSAC) are underway, Parliamentary Secretary for European funds and Social dialogue Aaron Farrugia said.

Speaking in Brussels during meetings with the Presidents of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Farrugia also noted the importance of Malta's strong social dialogue to achieve Malta's record level of employment and minimum wage increase.

In discussions on the challenges of shaping post-2020 Cohesion Policy with key institutional players, including with EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu, Farrugia focused on the benefits of cohesion policy for future generations through the added value of EU investments.

He mentioned Malta's experiences with the Kappara Junction, the regeneration of Cittadella in Gozo and the Oncology centre. "Stronger EU Cohesion Policy can deliver better quality of life, more jobs and sustainable growth" he added.
