Daphne's murder: Day of mourning - government awaiting funeral details before taking decisions

Julian Bonnici Friday, 20 October 2017, 07:24 Last update: about 8 years ago

The government will not take a decision on calls for a national day of mourning in honour of slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia until arrangements are made for her funeral.

Contacted yesterday on the matter, a spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister said that, “We are still awaiting funeral details before taking further decisions.”

An autopsy is expected to be carried out today, after which the family will presumably be able to begin making funeral arrangements.

Caruana Galizia was murdered with a car bomb on Monday afternoon.

Many, however, feel that may such action may be a case of too little too late.
