Launch of the first Charity Poker Tournament in aid of Strina

While addressing the launch of a Charity Poker Tournament in aid of Strina, Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri said that the initiative sends an important message regarding corporate social responsibility.  

Silvio Schembri described the event as one where everyone is a winner, not only the players, but the whole country. He encouraged other businesses to play their part in aid of Strina while thanking the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca for the sterling work done by the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation (MCCFF).

77 Great Estates and Strina have joined forces to organise a first of its kind one-day poker shootout tournament in aid of the MCCFF.

The Managing Director at 77 Great Estates Real Estates Carl Peralta said that it had long been the company’s wish to organise a charity event for which there’s already a great response.

Dragonara Casino Business Development Director Franco Degabriele said that preparations for this event have been ongoing for the past six months. He added that this is not the only event that Dragonara Casino has organised in aid of charity.

The President of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation Carmel Briffa thanked everyone involved with organising this event which will sustain the MCCFF’s work in aid of those in need.

Poker players participating in the tournament will each donate €200 as the tournament buy-in, of which 90% will be donated to the MCCFF, with the remainder being distributed as prize money to the top ten players. The winner of the tournament will receive all-inclusive tickets for the Pokerstars Championshipswhich will be held in Prague between the 7th and 18th December of this year.
