School "officials" this morning were attacked by a person, and a police report has been filed, a government statement said.
The statement did not name the school; neither did it say who the “officials” attacked, or whether they are men or women.
Sources told The Malta Independent that the incident took place at the boys secondary school in Cospicua.
The three-sentence press statement said that the ministry deplored violent acts and requested the authorities to take all necessary action.
The "officials" mentioned in the government statement were referred to as "a teacher and other educators" by the Malta Union of Teachers.
This aggression is unacceptable and symptomatic of the kind of situations teachers face every day while carrying out their duties.
Instead of being helped by parents, educators are finding lack of cooperation. Very often, teachers are being blamed by the patemts for the shortcomings of their children, the MUT said, calling for better security in schools.
