Zejtun mayor Joe Attard has passed away today. He had occupied the post of mayor of the locality since 1996, and had been elected councillor to the first Zejtun local council in 1994.

Attard was also the president of the Zejtun band club.

He had also been the first chairman of One Productions, the Labour Party media.

In a statement, the Labour Party paid its respects to the Attard family. The Nationalist Party and Alternattiva demokratika also expressed their condolences.
