11 cases of synthetic drug smuggling at Corradino Correctional Facility in October

There were 11 cases of suspected synthetic drug smuggling inside the Corradino Correctional Facility during the month of October.

Minister for Internal Affairs Michael Farrugia divulged this information in parliament when questioned by the PN spokesperson for Home Affairs Beppe Fenech Adami.

Minister Farrugia explained that when such circumstances occur, the police is called to intervene and investigations soon follow. When an inmate is found to be in possession of some illegal substance, he is sent to a separate division for a temporary period.

This is done as a prevention. The inmate is then handed disciplinary action only when the substance is confirmed to be illegal.
