MSC Seaview will bring 120,000 passengers to Malta in 2018

MSC Seaview will be christened in Civitavecchia, Italy, on June 2, 2018 and will be cruising around the Mediterranean from Malta on a weekly basis till 14 November bringing over to Malta over 120,000 passengers. This was announced by MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago during the the official delivery of MSC Seaside, the sister ship of MSC Seaview  at Trieste harbour. MSC Cruises officially took delivery of its new flagship MSC Seaside at Trieste harbour  for her inaugural port call, the first time the cruise liner docked at a traditional cruise port after being released from  Fincantieri, the largest Italian shipbuilding company in Europe. 

“MSC Seaside’s coming into service marks another key milestone in the history and future of our Company, but she also embodies a pivotal moment for the industry. The Seaside Class of ships is designed to bring guests closer to the sea and to operate in sunny waters, while continuing to push the boundaries of maritime and guest-centric technology. With the addition of MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview  to our investment plan, we are now even better positioned to further extend our global footprint. We are expecting the delivery of at least one new ship each year through 2026, with six to have come into service between 2017 and 2020.” Vago said.

Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy presided over the ceremony. Mrs Josette Hamilton, Hamilton Travel (Malta) CEO and Ms Yasmine Hamilton, Company Director were among distinguished guests from the cruise industry invited for the Trieste launch. Mrs Hamilton expressed her satisfaction that HAMILTON TRAVEL has been MSC Cruises’ strategic partner in Malta providing the opportunity to thousands of passengers to board MSC Cruise ships from Malta and fromother ports in Europe.  MSC Seaview will give the unique weekly opportunity to 200 Maltese holiday makers to cruise round the Mediterranean from Malta to Malta on this latest MSC cruise liner to enter Malta. Adults booking their cruise on MSC Seaview are being given €200 discount each.

MSC Seaside is the first ship in the Seaside Class and a completely new prototype pushing the boundaries of innovative ship building and design.  It has  a guest capacity of 5,119, 1413 crew members, she  is the second newly-built next-generation mega cruise ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the first one to be delivered by Fincantieri. MSC Seaside immediately set sail to Miami on a 21 day trans-Atlantic crossing to Miami  for her naming ceremony on 21 December. MSC Seaside will be home porting in Miami and will begin her first sailing in the Caribbean where she will call at various ports in the East and West Caribbean. MSC Seaside flies the Maltese flag and all MSC Cruises new cruise liners are being registered in Malta.
