Alistair David Robert Chalmers Bursary awarded to Graziella Rose Zammit

Twenty-one-year-old Graziella Rose Zammit from Pembroke is this year's recipient of the Alistair David Robert Chalmers Bursary. This award has permitted her to spend time in Spain this past summer furthering her knowledge of the language and culture of Spain at the University of Salamanca. Farrugia has just graduated top of her class with a BA (Hons) in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Malta.

The ADRC Trust was founded in 2013 by members of the Chalmers family, in memory of their late son and brother Alistair, whose many interests included Hispanic Studies with particular reference to Latin America, where he travelled extensively and did voluntary work.

Present at the ceremony were Graziella Rose Zammit and her parents Grezzju and Rose-Marie Zammit; members of the Chalmers family including Roderick and Mary Rose Chalmers, their daughter Amanda Kaye and her children Alexander, Francesca and Ellie, and their son Nicholas Chalmers and his wife Julie and their children Chiara and Sole; Prof. Dominic Fenech, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Prof. Carmel Vassallo and Francisco Ibáñez of the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies.
