Wednesday, 17 January 2018, 16:05 Last update: about 7 years ago

Confidence in Malta’s economy has by 4% over the previous month, a European Union Commission study shows. The Commission survey, conducted among 1,500 companies and 1,000 households, was held in the first two weeks of December.

The government said that such a result confirms the people’s optimism in the way the country was being administered. Furthermore, compared to the same month in the last year before the change of government in 2013, optimism is 35 percent higher, the government said.

Operators in the services sector in the country, including companies in the financial sector and gaming, were the most optimistic.

In the field of construction, the level of optimism is the highest ever observed since the European Commission survey started.

The survey revealed that families have never been so optimistic, according to the press statement; where families in Malta have remained among the few in Europe that believe their financial situation will improve.

The government stated that all this proves how wrong the Opposition is when it says that Malta is facing uncertainty.
