CSN supports MEP David Casa in fight against money laundering

The Civil Society Network today publicly expressed its appreciation and support towards Maltese MEP David Casa’s commitment to the fight against corruption and money laundering.

Whereas it notes that is evident that in Malta a strategy has been put in place to systematically attack those individuals who shed light on criminal activities, CSN appealed to all politicians of good faith and to the public in general to strengthen their commitment towards the fight against corruption and abuse of power.

The network believes that key Maltese institutions are not giving our country the desired results in the area of financial crimes and that there is a general impression that the priority of some of them is to defend the government rather than fight abuse of power.

In CSN’s view, this is making it more difficult to have a justice system that does not look at faces and a culture of good governance. The network said it believes that the fundamental issues that have been identified by the Delegation of the European Parliament that visited Malta last December should be addressed in a serious and urgent manner.
