The weather has not been kind to Carnival enthusiasts this year.
Many of the events scheduled for the Carnival days had to be cancelled because of the strong winds and rain, and some have been re-programmed for this weekend.
Weather permitting, of course.
There have been suggestions that Carnival should be held in warmer months, possibly May, but such arguments do not hold water because Carnival, as the name implies, means a time of entertainment before Lent.
Times have changed, as Lent is not observed in the way it used to be in the past, but the tradition of Carnival before Lent should not be touched. Still, having a Carnival weekend on the first weekend of Lent is not something that everybody accepts.
We have in the meantime come up with a list of songs that Carnival enthusiasts do not like to hear, as they remind them of their battle with the weather. Of course, there are other songs similar in title to these. We have just picked a few of them.
Eurythmics - Here Comes The Rain Again
Bruno Mars - It Will Rain
Bill Withers - Ain’t no sunshine
Cindi Lauper – Raging storm
BJ Thomas – Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
Travis – Why Does It Always Rain On Me?
Ray Charles - If it wasn’t for bad luck
Ozzy Osbourne - Black rain
Billy Talent - February winds
Jermaine Jackson – When the rain begins to fall
Supertramp - It’s raining again
George Ezra – Did you hear the rain?
