A Maltese couple died in a traffic accident while on holiday in Australia.

Doreen and Lorry Pulis, aged 58 and 57, who are resident in Birzebbuga, died in a car and truck head-on crash in Sydney’s south-west, TVM reports.

Doreen’s brother also died in the accident, while two more people were seriously injured.

Australian media did not name the victims.

Five people were in the car when it collided with the semi-trailer then crashed into a fence at Bow Bowing, near Campbelltown, about 11.20am on Friday.

Police said the cause of the crash was unknown but it appeared the car had veered into the truck's path.

TVM reports that the Maltese couple was in Australia to attend a wedding. They arrived there a week ago.
