Waterpolo – LEN Europa Cup: Malta succumb to heavy defeat against Greece

Malta today fell to another defeat in the LEN Europa Cup being played in Split, losing heavily to Greece with a 20-2 score.

It was the third defeat in as many matches for the Maltese side as it prepares for the double encounter against Belarus which will determine which team will qualify for the European championships in Barcelona in June.

Malta were no match to the mighty Greek side, and after losing the first two sessions with the identical score of 3-0, were brushed aside in the third quarter 8-1 and then went on to lose the last session 6-1.

Malta’s goals were scored by Matthew Zammit and Steve Camilleri.

Steve Camilleri also missed two penalty shots.

 

Malta has also lost to Serbia 17-3 and to the Netherlands 12-8.
