This year Dragon Academy Malta (former Innaekwan) who specialises in Korean martial art systems of Taekwondo and Hapkimudo held a sparring stage that was conducted by Maestro Vito Marino during the 24-25 February 2018. Maestro Marino has a strong relationship with the Maltese Taekwondo, and in fact he was an instrumental person who helped developing the sport of Taekwondo.

The event was held at the Archbishop Seminary in Rabat, Malta. During the 2-day stage, Maestro Marino went through different modalities of current game of Taekwondo. The classes were organised according to age and level in order to assure that all can cope with the exercises. The stage was attended by a good number of participants coming from different local Taekwondo affiliated clubs.

Within a span of few months this was the second educational activity that Dragon Academy Malta organised with such a big scale. In October of last year, Mauro Busuttil, who is a national athlete, has conducted a sparring seminar with the title 'Learn and Achieve'. This seminar was the fruit of his learning experience in training with two great Olympians and World Champions, Carlo Molfetta and Steven Lopez at their seminar held in Italy.

During last December the founder of Dragon Academy, and head instructor Stephen Formosa, went to Luxembourg to do his 6th Dan black belt under the technical board of the Luxembourg Taekwondo Federation (FLAM), who successfully passed with an outstanding performance, placing first amongst all the high grades, and therefore also placing himself at the helm amongst the local Maltese Dan holders.

In December 2017, Dragon Academy held the end of year grading examinations where 9 candidates successfully were promoted to their new respective rank as follows:

9th Keup (Yellow Tab): Kurt Zammit

8th Keup (Yellow Belt): Aisha, Asma and Salem Nouri Kerfah

7th Keup (Green Tab): Jake Grima, Daniel Debattista and David Karapetyna

6th Keup (Green Belt): Ruby Mifsud & Luke Chircop

During the same month, Dragon Academy has participated in the national championships fielding the biggest number of athletes amongst all participating clubs, out of whom many successfully won their respective category.

Earlier in November 2017 Stephen Formosa has achieved a degree from the University of Malta in Sports and Active Lifestyles, demonstrating his commitment towards the development of the local sport and the propagation of living a healthy lifestyle in the new generations. During the same month, Dragon Academy took off to Sheffield to participate for the Quest Taekwondo Festival with a contingent of 8 athletes.
