Two seriously injured in Marsa traffic accident

Two persons were seriously injured last night after two cars were involved in a collision in Marsa, the police said.

The accident happened in Aldo Moro Road at 1.240am.

The cars were being driven by a Serbian man, aged 27, resident of Hamrun, who had a 43-year-old woman passenger with him, and a 53-year-old resident of Swieqi, who had a 49-year-old woman passenger, also of Swieqi, with him.

The two Swieqi passengers were grievously injured, the police said. The Serbian man escaped unhurt while the police did not release the condition of the woman he had with him.

The cars involved, a Renault Megane and a Toyota Aygo, were considerably damaged.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera is conducting an inquiry.
