San Gwann made it eight in a row beating bottom of the table Rabat Ajax 5-1 to keep challenging for promotion to the Premier League. The result means that Rabat Ajax are now mathematically relagetad to the Divison Two where they return after a seven-year spell.
It was a one sided affair with San Gwann confirming all their potentialagainst a sorry Rabat side.
San Gwann went all out in search of an early and several near misses in the opening stages of the match. Henshaw was denied by a brilliant Vella save after barely three minutes play, and two minutes later Henshaw again tested Vella with a grounder.
On eight minutes an Allan Borg header just missed the target and three minutes later San gwann broke the deadlock when when Sergio Hili connected to a Kyle Gatt cross to drill home from close range.
Rabat were practically never in the game and San Gwann kept pushing for more goals and on 22 minutes they doubled the score with a good move between Sergio Hili and Kyle Gatt with the latter hitting home with a grounder from an acute angle.
There was more to come as on 29 minutes San Gwann made it three with a fien solo effort from Mario Arieta Suarez who gave Vella no chance to save.
Three minutes into the second half Rabat should have pulled one back but Nicolai Attard all alone in front of goal failed to beat Bartolo who blocked his effort.
On 54 minutes San Gwann scored a fourth when substitute and newcomer Petar Kanzurov marked his debut with a goal after a fine run from midfield. Sixty seconds later Rabat scored a consolation goal when Nicolai Attard beat Bartolo with a low shot after a fine move with Wayne Borg.
On 69 minutes San Gwann made it five with a swift move between Kanzurov and Allan Borg who shot home from close range.
