Brain awareness month was celebrated in a unique and colourful way at Chiswick House School, with flamboyant hats being created out of paper, plastic and other recyclable materials.

Yesterday Chiswick House School (CHS) asked all students to come to school wearing casual cloths instead of their uniform and wearing a hat done by the children themselves. March is the month dedicated to Brain Awareness and Chiswick House School, this year decided to support Research and Innovation Development Trust (RIDT) which is the University of Malta’s Trust set up to collect funds for research. Many people across the world will be celebrating this event by wearing a hat. Students were asked to create the most creative, extravagant, mad hat they can think of made out of recycled materials.

CHS and St Martin’s College believes that supporting and investing in research not only helps Malta give great opportunities to its brightest but these researchers are trying to answer big literary or social questions or developing new medicines or trying to find new scientific and technological knowledge.

Another important aim governing this choice was the fact that students of all ages can learn to appreciate the hardships and joys of academia - a most interesting career path if ever there was one! It has also given parents of children in the school who are academics to contribute towards the Parent Capital programme which encourages parents to donate an hour a year to the school to share their expertise and passion.
