"Research on embryos is and will remain illegal," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne said on Indepth.

Interviewed by The Malta Independent editor-in-chief Rachel Attard, the minister said that the proposed amendments to the IVF law will continue to protect the rights of the embryo, and will not allow any doctor to experiment on embryons. He said that if a doctor tries to do this, that respective doctor will face harsh penalties.

Minister Fearne was also asked about embryo adoption, surrogacy and the rights of the embryo.
