Sliema had to fight rather harder than expected to beat Valletta Videoslots by the score of 7-6 in a close encounter at the National Pool. The first session ended 3-0 in favour of Sliema with Jerome Gabaretta scoring a brace and Nicky Bugelli adding another.

The second session was much more balanced and ended 2-2. Zach Mizzi made it 4-0 but a brace by Ryan Mock put Valletta back in it before Mark Meli maintained the three goal advantage at the end of the session.

The third session also ended 2-2. Nicholas Bugelli made it 5-2 for Sliema with Michele Mifsud making it 5-3. Another goal from Jerome gabaretta put Sliema ahead by four again before Timmy Agius made it 2-2.

The final session saw Valletta turn the heat on Sliema with Daniel Paolella and James Spiteri Staines providing a nail bitig finish. Sliema ended up 7-6 winners and now face Sirens in the semi final on April 28.

Neptunes breeze past Exiles for date with San Giljan

Neptunes Leo Vegas were the second team to qualify for the semi final of the Winter League when they easily defeated Exiles Jetfreight by eight gals to four at the national Pool.

The first session was a close affair ending 2-1 in favour of Neptunes. Sean Xerri de Caro put Exiles ahead but strikes by Gabriel Pace and Nikolai Zammit put Neptunes 2-1 ahead. The second session was also a close affair ending 1-0 in favour of Neptunes with the only goal scored by Niki Lanzon.

Neptunes went ahead in the third session winning 3-1 and practically securing the match. Niki Lanzo, Miguel and Nikolai Zammit scored for Neptunes with Benji Lazon reducing the deficit for Exiles.

The fourth session ended 2-2. Jordan Camilleri scored a brace for Exiles with Aurelian Cousin and Nicky Paris scored Exiles goals with Cousin also missing a penalty with the final score 8-4 in favour of Neptunes and a semifinal against San Giljan on April 28 their reward.
