The Labour Party has expressed solidarity with Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi who reportedly found a dead cat stuffed into a brown paper bag behind his doorstep.

In a statement issued on Sunday morning, the PL said the bag had an anti-government slur scrawled onto it, calling it a “clear act of intimidation,” and urged the public to come together.

In his own statement, Zrinzo Azzopardi also called for unity, adding that this happened on his family’s doorstep, but will not cause him to “beat the drums of war”.

Partit Demokratiku expressed its  solidarity with Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi for a cowardly act which has no place in any democratic society, or in any human interaction.

In the pursuit of a better Malta, and the principles of good governance, environment and social justice, Partit Demokratiku sees civil discourse, peaceful protest and proactive debate as the only way to bring about real change," PD said in a statement.

Such vile acts only undermine social cohesion. Partit Demokratiku wishes to work with all those of good faith and for political blinkers to be switched off, which otherwise lead to barbarity of this kind.

The Speaker of the House Anglu Farrugia has also issued a statement to condemn this vile act.
