TradeMalta helping enterprises seize global opportunities

Thursday, 26 April 2018, 10:28 Last update: about 7 years ago

A group of 20 SMEs have just completed a course on internationalisation, organised by TradeMalta and Malta University Services.

Run over an eight-week period, the course uses a combination of lectures, case studies, experience-sharing sessions and discussions. The participants, typically owners and managers of SMEs interested in exporting and other expansion, discussed issues like financing, strategic market entry, market research, using social media as well as legal and contractual issues.

Over the last four years, around 100 SME participants have attended the SME Internationalisation & Export Management course. Participants are typically involved in a variety of manufacturing and service industries, representing SMEs involved in food and beverage, engineering services, aviation, ICT, security, research and development, education and a host of other industries.

Training sessions are delivered by a team of professionals from both the University of Malta and industry. The course includes two panel discussions in which entrepreneurs with international business experience share their insights with the participants. The course ends with a presentation by participants on the application of the content covered to their SME.

The SME Internationalisation & Export Management course is accredited by the University of Malta (four ECTS) and is sponsored by HSBC Commercial Banking.
