Works at Ta Qali crafts village are progressing at a commendable pace Economy Minister Chris Cardona said while visiting the area on Friday morning.
Private operators are urged to also ramp up works so that all involved parties may reach the goal of completion by year’s end.
Cardona described how meetings were taking place on an ongoing basis between government, Malta Industrial Parks management and private contractors to ensure that any emerging problems would be nipped at the bud.

He said that works are progressing more quickly than expected, adding that the village will be a centre of artisanal excellence. Cardona urged innovative start-ups in the artisanal sector to show their interest, so that the crafts village would attract incubators and a hub would be developed.
Successive governments have discussed developments at the craft village, however last year the government announced €10 million would be invested through EU funds.
Cardona said that the importance for the various operators is that there is a common design, so that the whole project is a long-term success. He said that the government is not limiting operator numbers in order to urge as many to come forward.
