Twanny Scalpello, reader of novels on radio, dies aged 94

Twanny Scalpello, known by the older generations for his reading of novels on the radio, died on Monday, aged 94, TVM reports.

Born in Valletta but brought up in Sliema, Scalpello had countless listeners glued to the radio in the afternoon when he read many novels in the Maltese language for 40 years..

The first novel he read on radio was Fula Maqsuma, written by Karmenu Micallef.

He also took part in several plays on stage and TV.
