The motorsport Community is deeply saddened at the death of Lino Brincat, a local motorsport legend. Brincat successfully practiced among several motorsport disciplines, go-karting, auto cross, drag racing but his long-time favourite was Hillclimb. Brincat began his sporting career in the Hillclimb discipline but over time he even participated in drag racing and auto cross both at Mtarfa as well as in Ta' Qali where he won two championships.

Brincat won his first Hillclimb Championship by an Alfa Sud then in the late 90s he acquired the formula racing car, Dallara by which he remained most renowned. With the Dallara Lino competed several times even in Sicily. The last Hillclimb championship that Lino won was in 2006 at the age of 58, the championship was organized by the Island Car Club.

Those most involved in motorsport know Lino as mechanic, tuner that offered great help in various special ways to drivers especially those that opted to compete in an Alfa Romeo engine.

Lino was a huge fan of this brand and new all the tricks about its engines.

Brincat remain renowned for his dedication, precision accuracy in his work but above all for his sportsmanship.

The loss to the local motorsport community is huge but Lino Brincat will remain an inspiration for all those in a way or another involved in motorsport in Malta.
