The Couple - Fiona & Adrian 10 September 2017 Fiona Grima, 23, Clerk and Adrian Formosa, 27, College Precincts Officer held their ceremony at the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, Nadur Gozo followed by a reception at Ta’ Frenc. Photography | Matt, Hush Studios, www.thisishush.com

Adrian never believed in love at first sight until his eyes met those of Fiona for the first time. They both knew the moment they first glanced romantically at each other that they would love one another forever. They decided to get married soon after they met; first, they got engaged and later they married.

They got married on September 10 in 2017, at the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, Nadur Gozo. It is the town where Fiona was raised so it was very meaningful for her to get married there. A reception and an after party were held at Ta' Frenċ. The venue was perfect for the couple as they wanted a location that offers both indoor and outdoor areas. "They also have exquisite food and exceptional service", the couple confirmed.

Fiona and Adrian's wedding was quite different as they had a 1950's inspired vintage theme. They had everything vintage related: from dresses, cars, invitations and decorations. It was all very bright and colourful. "As our wedding was on a Sunday morning, our bridal party, including the mother of the groom and the mother of the bride, were dressed in bright colours which created a pleasant, lively 50's atmosphere", Fiona explained.

The decorations were also 50's inspired; the church was decorated with flower arrangements and bouquet using Avalanche Roses, Hydrangeas and tiny fillers of Gypsophilia flowers. The reception venue was beautifully decorated by Finishing Touches by Josiana with vintage-inspired items. The main attraction was the hanging wedding cake with a bright colour pop-up backdrop to match the theme. Even the invites matched the theme, they were very elegant and sophisticated, supplied by Celebrations; Fiona's mum added a delicate handmade bow, pearls and a brooch to the invites which added an even more classical look. »

Fiona's dress was designed specifically for her by Joanne Xuereb, her cousin. It was of course vintage inspired in an elaborate style composed of beaded, embroidered tulle with 3-D organza flowers. The four layers of the dress and the cathedral-length veil were embellished with beaded scalloped trimming, which was hand applied. The beading used on the heavy gown ranged from glass beads and high-quality mirror back crystals. The dress was complemented by a rose gold tiara and rose gold accessories.

Adrian also wore a vintage-inspired suit in silver grey with a matching hat by Cefai Formal wear.

The day was simply amazing, said the couple; it was a dream come true for both of them. They created a fantastic atmosphere for themselves and their guests to enjoy. This was possible with the help of the talented wedding organiser Carmelino Refalo; Finishing Touches by Josiana for the decorations and Commander Jay who was their special guest DJ for the wedding day. The latter created a festive and joyful atmosphere.

The couple together with their guests danced and partied throughout the wedding reception and the after party. It was what Fiona and Adrian wanted; that is why they handed out flip-flops to their guests so that they could dance comfortably.

When their special day was over, Fiona and Adrian went on a very well deserved honeymoon to the magical Mauritius and Dubai. ROCS Travel organised a ten-day dream honeymoon for the couple. They enjoyed it so much that they would like to recommend these destinations to other couples because it was all so worth it; another dream come true for Adrian and Fiona!
