Eight civil unions were registered in Gozo between 2014 and 2017, according to information tabled in parliament this afternoon.

In Malta, there were a total of 205 civil unions between 2014 and 2017.

Throughout those same years there were 856 couples registered as married in Gozo, and just over 15,000 marriages in Malta.

Civil union was introduced in 2014, while same-sex marriage was legalized in 2017.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat tabeled this information in parliament in response to a question by Labour MP Byron Camilleri.
