MCAST celebrates Diversity Day

On Thursday, 10 May MCAST organised a series of activities to celebrate Diversity Day and Europe Day.  The events were held at the MCAST Piazzetta, MCAST Main Campus, Paola.

There are presently over 60 different nationalities represented at MCAST and most participated in the activities organised to promote and celebrate this diversity. Events included music and dance, cultural presentations as well as various sports activities including a football tournament, Judo self-defence practice, a Ninja demonstration and a tug-of-war.

The Malta Fire Brigade and the Armed Forces of Malta were also present and held demonstrations. Students hailing from the Electronics Engineering programmes of study displayed a selection of electronic engineering projects.

Several stalls were also set up in the MCAST Students' House where students presented different crafts and traditional exhibitions from around the world. Visitors had the opportunity to taste traditional food from different countries as well as view students dressed in traditional costumes.

A series of talks were also held in relation to Europe Day to promote careers and traineeships available around Europe. Speakers from the European Representation of Malta to the EU, European Parliament Representation in Malta and the European Asylum Office in Malta were present to share their experiences. 

The President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca visited the event and met students from different nationalities. During her visit to the Malta stand, the President was presented with the book, Stejjer ta' Dari u tal-Lum by Noel Cachia, a member of the MCAST staff.
