MP Rosianne Cutajar earns €35,000 per annum for role with OPM

Labour MP Rosianne Cutajar earns €34,504 plus for her role at the Prime Minister's Office, according to information tabled in parliament this evening.

Cutajar's position with OPM, as Commissioner for the Simplification and Reduction of Bereucracy, also includes an expense allowance worth 25% of the maximum of salary scale 7.

This information was divulged by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat following a parliamentary by Democratic Party MP Godfrey Farrugia this evening. Farrugia asked the question in light of an article by The Times of Malta published last week. The article reported that former Labour cabinet minister Emmanuel Mallia is on the government's payroll earning €56,000 a year

In his reply, Muscat added that Labour MP Alex Muscat is also under OPM payroll as a Private Secretariat Officer to the Prime Minister. Alex Muscat earns a scale 6 salary and is given an allowance in lieu of overtime which is valued at 20% of scale 7. He also receives a car allowance of €1,854. His exact salary in figures was not divulged.
