Malta’s share from EU’s long-term budget will be under the spotlight at Żejtun on Friday 22 June when journalist Manuel Micallef will interview Alfred Sant, Head of the S&D Malta Delegation at the European Parliament on the European Commission’s proposal for EU’s long-term budget for 2021-2027.
The first post-Brexit budget is trying to fill the void left by the UK’s departure, while securing more money for new priorities: digital, security, migration.
The discussion will touch various topics of particular interest to Malta. What was the first reaction from the EU’s national capitals to the Commission’s proposals? How far will Malta’s recent economic growth effect its share from the EU Budget? How realistic is the figure of €179 million that analysts project Malta will be losing in EU Cohesion Funds?
These and other related topics will be reviewed during the Conference EUROPE AFTER 2020 : WHAT WILL BE MALTA’S SHARE? at the Pandora Theatre, Żejtun at 6.30pm. The public is being invited to participate in the conference to better understand the challenges facing Malta and Gozo in this particular point of history in the EU. Those who need further information can contact Dr. Sant’s Office on email address [email protected] or phone number 21490705. A Reception will follow. Entrance is free.
