Balzan residents yesterday held a symbolic vigil near two trees which are being removed to make way for the reconstruction of Valley Road (photo above)

Yesterday, all the branches were chopped off and this morning workers are on site to remove what remains of the trees (photo below).

The trees will be removed, according to Transport Malta, as part of its project to reconstruct one of the worst roads in Malta.
