Duncan Micallef current FIA European Top Fuel Drag Racing champion and Sports Man of the year for the second consecutive time finished the third round of this year's Championship in second place when he faced Timo Lehtimäki of Finland in Final. For Lehtimäki this was the second final of his carreer with the previous one being in 2010 also in the Alastaro Circuit in his own country Finland which he also won.

In the first elimination Micallef eliminated Annti Horto also of Finland, with cars completely identical and tuned exactly the same, having same problems and the best driver at the moment won.

In the second eliminations, just before the Final Duncan Micallef raced against Anita Makela, former FIA European Top Fuel Champion,   also from Finland. Micallef won against Makela to face Lehtimäki in the final. Micallef competed against another 12 drivers from all over Europe with his class being the biggest class of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. This was the first smile for Micallef during this tough championship as it was the first time he made it to the final.

This meant that Micallef faced three Finnish drivers at their home circuit and eliminate two of them.
