PN leader has become messenger of fake news – PL

Tuesday, 10 July 2018, 11:29 Last update: about 7 years ago

PN leader Adrian Delia has become a messenger of fake news who speaks about false facts and persists in ignoring the truth even, the Labour Party said on Tuesday

In a press conference, Labour MPs Rosianne Cutajar and Alex Muscat both noted that Delia has “persisted in lying” about a number of sectors, but most recently in the sectors of justice.

In this respect, Cutajar and Muscat spoke about a case dating back to 2004 wherein Delia persisted on the notion that a batch of cannabis drug has disappeared from court, even though the courts have since found that the drugs were not missing, but rather they were incorrectly marked.

Cutajar said that by persisting with fake news, it shows that Delia has not understood the responsibility that his role carried.  “Adrian Delia has not understood that our country has thrown bluff politics and fake news away as the people want arguments based on truthful facts”, she said.

She also reminded that whilst Delia spoke about justice, he has not taken any steps against PN MP Toni Bezzina. It is no wonder that the PN has been likened to a propaganda machine similar to that of the Russian government, she said, making reference to The Malta Independent’s leader last Monday.

Muscat said that Delia is trying to shift attention away from the internal disputes that are become a trend within the Nationalist Party. “He wants to create an imaginary situation in the hope of earning some support,” Muscat said.
