Updated: Two in hospital in Sliema accident involving five cars

A man and a woman are in hospital after two cars crashed into each other and then careened into three other parked cars in Sliema, the police said.

The accident took place at The Strand at 5.30pm.

A BMW 320 driven by a 38-year-old man of Paola was involved in a crash with a Renault Clio driven by a 27-year-old man of Siggiewi, who had a 27-year-old woman of Ta’ Xbiex with him.

As a result of the impact, the two cars crashed into three other vehicles parked on the road.

The Renault driver and passenger were taken to hospital for treatment. 

The police later said that the man suffered serious injuries while the woman was slightly hurt.
