The world's first blockchain and cryptocurrency stock exchange has been inaugurated in Malta, with the Malta Stock Exchange also announcing the creation of a new subsidiary which will become the Fintech and the Digital Asset arm of the MSE.

The subsidiary, MSX, will be able to operate in the private sector, it will also in technology and joint ventures in the blockchain industry.

MSE also signed two Memoranda of Understanding with leaders within the digital asset and blockchain sector,  Neufund and OKEX, who will assist MSX.

Finance Minister Edward Scicluna, describing the day as a ‘historic moment’ said that Malta is becoming a global leader in the blockchain sector.
