Journalists attending the Partit Demokratiku press conference this morning were treated to a light moment when Marlene Farrugia interrupted her speech to tell her partner Godfrey that the “food in burning”.

Marlene and Godfrey Farrugia are partners in life and partners on the Opposition benches representing PD, and the press conference to discuss the aftermath of the publication of the Egrant inquiry conclusions was held in one of their homes in Qrendi.

While speaking about the serious political situation in Malta, Marlene smelt something burning and was quick to interrupt her thoughts and tell Godfrey that to see what was going on in the kitchen.

Godfrey left the press conference to check and, apparently, it was the roasted potatoes.

At least it was not Marlene’s cake. She is celebrating her birthday today.

Reacting to stories uploaded on news portals, Godfrey said that the food did not get burnt as he switched off the cooker in time... and that the couple enjoyed the food they prepared.
