Thursday, 26 July 2018, 23:53 Last update: about 7 years ago

New signing Fontanella scored on the 90th minute for Champions Valletta to give them a precious 1-1 draw in Bosnia against Zrinjski. This goal could prove to be decisive for the Citizens who would make history if they qualify for the third round of a European competition.

Valletta are still unbeaten in European football so far this season, even though they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Albania’s FK Kukesi after drawing 0-0 in Albania and 1-1 in Ta’ Qali.

This time Valletta managed to score this vital away goal and now have good chances of going even further in the Europa League competition. Valletta gave another good performance in a rather balanced encounter. After a scoreless first half, Zrinjski forged ahead 6 minutes into the second half thanks to Bilbija, but on 90 minutes Valletta new signing from Floriana Mario Fontanella scored Valletta’s equaliser.

The return leg at Ta Qali will be played next Thursday 2nd August.
