Preliminary investigations found that an 18 year old man from Qormi lost control of his Ford Escort, leading him to drive into the opposite lane.  As a result, he crashed into two cars, a BMW driven by a 46 year old woman from Msida and a Daihatsu driven by a 44 year old man from Tarxien.

Both the 18 year old man and the 46 year old woman were injured in the crash and were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for care.  There, the 18 year old was certified as suffering from grievous injuries whilst the woman was found to be suffering from light injuries.  The 44 year old man driving the Daihatsu suffered no injuries.
