Malta Automobile Club petitions to support to the Central Link Project

Sunday, 19 August 2018, 08:30 Last update: about 7 years ago

While most of the talk about the Central Link Project has been against it, the Malta Automobile Club, on the other hand, has launched a petition entitled ‘Support the Central Link Project’

Alfred Farrugia of the Malta Automobile Club argues that “vehicle taxation in Malta should be invested in road construction and improvements, and the Central Link Project is one such project.

“The Club has noted that the new road bypassing the village of Attard is expected to reduce the number of vehicles that drive through the centre of the village. It is also aware that vehicle emissions are expected to be reduced by about 13 per cent and driving time through the area is also expected to fall by 50 per cent – a considerable amount.

“The Club recognises that the interests of pedestrians, cyclists and other road-users are also being taken into consideration in this project. It affirms that a new road on the periphery of Attard is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the core of the village.

“It stresses that the project is of benefit to the health and well-being of the residents of Attard and neighbouring localities.”

The Malta Automobile Club invites the residents of Attard and neighbouring localities, as well as those who drive through the area on a regular basis, to sign the petition which can be found at https://www.change.org/p/chairperson-planning-authority-malta-support-to-the-central-link-project
