Maltese weightlifters to compete in Serbia

The Malta Weightlifting Association will be represented by three male athletes in the upcoming KTD Spartak tournament in Subotica Serbia. No stranger to the international stage, Rodmar Pulis will be accompanied by Andy Grech and rookie Keith Azzopardi. The athletes will be competing against athletes from, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, France, Romania, Uganda and the host country.

This tournament will be of special importance for Rodmar Pulis as he is currently preparing to compete at the World University Championships set to take place in Poland in late September. The two junior athletes, Andy Grech and Keith Azzopardi, have shown a lot of promise in their recent performances in national meets, and will benefit from this tournament to gain international experience and increased confidence for future meets.

Jesmond Caruana will also be participating in the tournament as national team coach and speaker of a Weightlifting Technical Seminar that will be commencing in the days prior to the competition. The seminar is aimed to teach, coaches, technical officials and athletes about the rules that go into a weightlifting competition.
