Medieval Bohemian Cabaret

Tuesday, 28 August 2018, 10:19 Last update: about 7 years ago

The Strada Stretta Concept, under the auspices of the Valletta 2018 Foundation, presents Medieval Bohemian Cabaret, a music concert with Tom Armitage and Kirsty Williamson, under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci.

The music will be from the Bohemian 1920s French cafe society cabaret, where composers such as Debussy and Hahn would have played their pieces for the first time. There will also be the world premiere of a song cycle called Montségur, written by Armitage and performed by Williamson. It is an Occitan and uses six medieval poems by female troubadours.

The repertoire includes: La Courte Paille (Francis Poulenc), Le Collibri (Ernest Chausson), Psyché (Émile Paladilhe), Automne (Gabriel Faure), A Chloris (Reynaldo Hahn) and many more!

Special thanks to Jason Masini for Splendid.

Entrance is free.
