A newborn baby has been found abandoned in Bugibba.

Initial medical tests have found that the white-skinned baby, who is a boy, is healthy, and that he wasn't born where he was found.

A search for the mother of the baby meanwhile is ongoing. 

Magistrate Joe Mifsud is leading an inquiry.

The baby was found on the doorstep of a block of apartments in Triq il-Pijunieri at around 4pm, with its umbilical cord reportedly still attached

The baby was transported to hospital in an ambulance.
