Promotion favourites Zejtun had to settle for their second consecutive draw as they failed to beat a spiritied Santa Lucija side, even though they twice enjoyed a two-goal advantage.

Credit goes to newly promoted Santa Lucija who gave another polished display after their great performance in their opener against Qrendi.

Zejtun had built a two-goal cushion by the end of the first fourty five minutes. After a rather slow start Zejtun were awarded a rather soft penalty on 14 minutes and Johnny Fernando Dias made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Minutes Adam Smeir went close with his drive going inches wide and on 39 minutes Santa Lucija had their best chance but Suda hesitated in front of goal. Two minutes later Zejtun doubled the score with a well orchestrated move finished in style by Adam Smeir with the ball in the top corner of the net.

On the resumption Santa Lucija pulled one back with a Brandon Paiber penalty and almost levelled through a Babilonia header, but on 55 minutes Zejtun re-established their two goal lead with a Dias freekick.

But this intense match had more to offer as on 75 minutes the Zejtun rearguard was caught napping and Kevin Camilleri scored from close range and a minute from time, Teixeira Maia scored a stunner to give Santa Lucija a deserved draw.
