St Andrew’s Road was temporarily closed this afternoon after a car caught fire, the police said.

The car, a Ford Focus, was being driven by a woman when it caught fire for reasons that are still to be established.

The accident happened at around 1pm.

The police closed the road to traffic until the fire was put out to eliminate the danger.

No-one was injured.

The road is one of the most notorious places for traffic congestion. The government is planning to widen the stretch which links the Coast Road with Regional Road.
