PN MP says Busuttil position on Egrant is ‘personal’, not party line

Nationalist MP Hermann Schiavone said that the position taken by former PN leader Simon Busuttil on the Egrant inquiry is “personal”, not the official party line.

Busuttil has, on two occasions in Parliament, said he believes that the company known as Egrant belongs to the Prime Minister in spite of a magisterial inquiry finding no evidence of this being so.

Writing on Facebook, Schiavone said that Busuttil’s stand “is not the official position of the party”.

He said that leader Adrian Delia has made it clear that the party has full confidence in Magistrate Aaron Bugeja, who conducted the inquiry, and accepts its conclusions.

Only the conclusions of the Egrant inquiry have been made public. PM Joseph Muscat said the full report is to be made available in redacted form. Delia has filed legal action saying that as Opposition Leader he should be given the full report.
