Sirens easily cruised through over Naxxar Lions in a one sided affair, to move to second in the standings two points behind league leaders Santa Lucija.

The match was practically settled inside the first thirteen minutes of the match when Sirens scored two good goals through Ratko Mandic and John Nwoba. Sirens continued to push forward and missed other scoring opportunities, with Naxxar rareley venturing forward.

On the resumption Naxxar tried to get back in business, but to no avail as Sirens continued to dictate matters, even missing a penalty through Morgon Filho, and then substitute Luka Mijic closed the account with the third and final goal twelve minutes from time.

Qrendi-Pembroke A       1-0

Qrendi: J. Farrugia, M. Farrugia, C. Caruana, D. Sammut (K. Abela 74'), N. Falzon, Z. Bowman, D. Zarb (B. Bondin 85'), J. Spiteri, J. Da Silva Vargas (D. Martini 85'), C. Quaranta, J. Da Silva Silveira.

Referee: Mark Dillon (Irlanda Ta' Fuq)

Scorer: Christian Caruana 45'

A Christian Caruana goal in stoppage time of the first half, gave Qrendi a slender victory over Pembroke who suffered their first defeat of the season.

The result is rather harsh on Pembroke who deserved at least a point from this encounter. However Pembroke missed some very good opportunities, especially in the first half, with striker Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza the main culprit for Pembroke's misses.

The goal that mattered was scored in the first minute of stoppage time of the first half, with Christian Caruana scoring a great goal with a scorcher from the edge of the area. Earlier Qrendi were unlucky not to forge ahead when a Da Silva Silveira deflected shot finished against the base of the upright.

Late in the game Pembroke were reduced to ten players when Maxim Focsa was sent off for a nasty tackle on goalkeeper Farrugia.
