An elderly woman was seriously injured this morning when she was hit by a car in Council of Europe Street in Luqa.

The accident happened at 11.40am, the police said.

The 79-year-old woman, of Luqa, was hit by a car driven by a 28-year-old of Zejtun.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
