Round 1: Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2019

The Gozo Motorcross Association organised its first round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2017/18 with riders participating in one of the most challenging and toughest racing ever seen at Ta' Xħajma Track.

Races started at 1pm and the afternoon proved to be an extremely enjoyable experience both for riders and spectators alike. There were Maltese visiting riders who joined their Gozitan friends in great sportsmanship.

The association welcomes three new riders - David Mercieca, Eric Cardona and Isaac Bartolo. Today's round 1 was was divided into four categories.

In Class A , David Dimech came in first, followed closely by Steve Xuereb, current Gozitan champion 2018, on his Honda CRF 250cc. The third place was won by Nataniel Camilleri at his first attempt in Class A.  

In Category B, Glenn Vella acquired the full 60 points aboard his Honda CRF 450cc while   Robert Spiteri came in second place. Third place was won by Keith Bugeja with his Yamaha YZF 25cc.

Class C, had 5 riders. Jorn Stellini enjoyed the ride which won him a full 60 points. He was followed by William Sant and Matthew Spiteri respectively.

David Mercieca debuted and won Class D followed by 15 year-old Isaac Bartolo. Eric Cardona won third place.

The second round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship will take place on the 18th of November 2018. New riders are always welcome.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 4th November 2018, GMA in collaboration with Il-Munxar Local Council and the Ministry for Gozo will be organizing a MotoTrial event in the square of Munxar. Maltese trials professionals will compete in an exciting and entertaining atmosphere. Junior MotoTrial shows will also be taking place.  Event starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. Entrance is free.
